Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP (Album Cover x Track List)

Okay. So if you’re like me, you probably hate Eminem’s Berzerk song that plays constantly on the Beats by Dre commercial. However, if you’re still like me, taking a look at the track list may prove an eventful album. With appearances from Rihanna (of course), Kendrick Lamar (expected) and Skylar Grey (ground-breaking (sarcasm)) the album looks to be shaping up pretty nicely.

UPDATE: Danny Brown – Old (Album Cover x Track List)

Still no track listing to attach with, but at least we can finally say that things are shaping up nicely. Danny Brown’s anticipated full-length studio album gets the cover it deserves and the recognition it needs (especially after that threat to record label, Fool’s Gold, to leak his own album since it would “fuck around and never come out..”).

Honestly, the artwork seems a little lackluster. To some. However, it’s been getting pretty high praise from fans and critics, some even stating that it may be the best artwork to rival Prince’s album for Plectrum Electrum. Which if you haven’t seen his new artwork for single Breakfast Can Wait, please do. It’s fucking awesome with a dash of Dave Chappelle.

Anyways, I think the cover really captures the essence of Danny and is a perfect fit for his Old album. Plus with features  A$AP Rocky, ScHoolBoy Q, Ab-soul, Kitty, Purity Ring, Freddie Gibbs, Mr. MFN eXquire, Scrufizzer, Rustie, A-Trak and Charli XCX, who really is going to be paying that much attention to the cover?

Due September 30 October 8.

2 Chainz – B.O.A.T.S. 2 #MEtime (Album Cover x Track List)

2 Chainz releases the track listing for the uh, less than exciting, sequel of his studio debut, Based on a T.R.U. StoryB.O.A.T.S. 2 #MEtime comes in at a solid 14 track standard edition while the deluxe features an additional 3.

The album cover is more than underwhelming… it’s actually just downright lazy. Looks like Kanye West’s DONDA had absolutely no input this time. Check out both the cover and the track list below. Interesting feature by Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie. That could go either way.

2 Chainz had this to say to MTV News about why it’s considered MEtime:

MEtime has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes—without really going on vacation. I feel like when people listen to me, they feel like they’re goin’ somewhere, taking time off; they’re relaxing, lettin’ their hair down.

Drake – Nothing Was the Same (Album Cover)

Well, OVO fans you’re in for a little luck. Drake has finally released the album cover(s) for his upcoming junior studio album, Nothing Was the Same. The design comes from artist Kadir Nelson and features two side profiles of Drake as a child, while the other features Drake now. Anyone else get a baby Blue Ivy vibe from the first cover?

Anyways, no word on why there are two separate covers (my best guess is one will be the standard edition, the other the deluxe). Check out the covers below.

Also, the original release of September 17 has now been pushed back to September 24. Cue all the whines and crying now, but only a week shouldn’t be too bad. Also no word on an official track list. Blah.

Janelle Monáe – The Electric Lady (Album Cover x Track List)

The second studio album (or third if you’ve been an avid fan and followed the Metropolis era) by Cover Girl’s leading lady, Janelle Monáe, has finally received a track listing and album cover. Or something of an album cover. No one really knows if the digital cover is going to remain the white and black lettering reading The Electric Lady uploaded to iTunes or not. More on that later.

Anyways, Monáe definitely calls on a star-studded slew of features from the likes of Solange to Prince. Check out more from the upcoming album after the break!

3 Stacks Album, 2014

Suspension of disbelief. However, according to Stephen Hill, president of programming over at BET, this is quite factual. Hill ran into André 3000 backstage of Lil’ Wayne, T.I. and 2 Chainz’s concert in DC this past weekend, who then tweeted his encounter:

Me:hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah…and i got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*

With little to no other André-2014-album-related news, this comes as a huge surprise and if this proves true, OutKast fans are definitely in for a treat. Especially assuming they’ve wanted new 3000 material since the over 10 year hiatus of Speakerboxxx / The Love Below. Well, solo and consistent material that is since we’ve only been blessed with André’s presence every now and then on random features and guest spots.

However through all the excitement, disappointment swells as news of the rumored OutKast reunion seems less and less likely now. It just seems that creative differences and artistic ventures aren’t meant to be together just yet. Whatever that means.

Anyways, what do you think? Would you be excited to find out that André 3000 has a new album coming out that’s, somewhat, around the corner? It would definitely fuel some fire amongst the age old “best rapper alive” debate.

Big Sean Unveils Hall of Fame Album Covers

The G.O.O.D. Music hypeman has finally released the somewhat cliché and photoshop-esque-ready covers for his second studio album. Big Sean’s Hall of Fame is set for an August 27 release and has spawned the rather weak single, Beware featuring Lil’ Wayne & Jhené Aiko.

In short, I believe the “finally famous” rapper will need some famous single to finally garner some buzz around this release. Just saying.

The album covers are a little Instagram styled and I think shows a little novice aspect… but a slight step-up from his studio debut cover however. And as if these covers couldn’t be more cliché, Sean even took to Vine Instagram (utilizing it’s new and “original” video service) to delight fans with the standard and deluxe covers.

However, before fans could catch a glimpse of the track listing, Big Sean made sure to cover it up. We do know that we can expect appearances from the likes of Miguel, Kid Cudi, Nas, Common, Ellie Goulding and (possibly) Eminem. Check out the Instagram post here.

What do you think of the covers? Are you even slightly interested in this upcoming album? Weigh in below, but before you do, grab a cold one. It is Sunday Funday after all.

The UK Continues to Impress Me… Sigh

Morning chaps. Nothing much to say here other than the fact that I have a newfound love: Daughter. Why does it seem that all great bands, or at least those of the past decade, have been from the UK, or elsewhere? C’mon ‘Merica! Seriously though, I’ve been jamming Indie folk band, Daughter’s new album and it’s easily one of my favorite of the year.

Check out more after the break and why you should give them a listen too. Read the rest of this entry »

Frank Ocean… In Versace?

Frankie boy has returned.. well sort of. He’s uploaded another text note editing program (or Notepad for Mac) to his Tumblr page that delivers some lyrics to the popular Migos track, Versace. Looks like Frank is deciding to showcase his rap skills once again but maybe we won’t get another cloudy verse that leads us to speculate prematurely? Cue Oldie verse.

Anyways, not much to see here.. yet, but looks as though we can expect a verse from the R&B crooner soon enough which could possibly be awesome and somewhat awkward in an entirely dope fashion. Or just another chance for people to take more stabs at his sexuality.

Who knows, maybe Frank has what it takes to make it in the hip-hop game. I mean, it’s not like Migos, Chief Keef or Future are making it hard.

Michael Jackson & Daft Punk / Kanye West & Marilyn Manson

Oh, Girl Talk, you sassy fuck, you. The mashup artist keeps the party going by pairing (although rather predictable?) two of the summers’ hottest jams: Daft Punk’s Pharrell-assisted Get Lucky joint and apparently blasphemous Kanye’s Black Skinhead with Michael Jackson’s Remember the Time and Marilyn Manson’s The Beautiful People respectively. That ended up being a long sentence. Don’t judge me.

Check out the, awkwardly high but much appreciated, quality videos from the rather mellow Girl Talk crowd after the break. It’s still summer folks!
